The EmpowerSDGs partnership is pleased to announce the completion of a key deliverable of our project.
At the start of the project, our partnership conducted extensive research to identify existing projects for marginalised youth across the European Union that used gamification techniques to align with the SDGs. This research helped us to understand which areas were being addressed, highlighted those that needed further attention and supported us to develop the next Activity 3 – a training curriculum for youth workers, which will be available in the coming months.
Our research identified more than 20 best practices, each of which demonstrates innovative approaches to achieving the SDGs. These findings have been compiled into a comprehensive summary document and an interactive online map, which can be used as a basis for developing new projects. By documenting these practices, we encourage active dialogue and collaboration between partner organisations and European youth, especially those from vulnerable backgrounds.
The main beneficiaries of this research were the project partners, who gained valuable insights into existing initiatives and increased their understanding and capacity to develop effective training curricula and gamification experiences. Indirectly, youth workers and young people at risk (aged 16-30) will benefit from the materials and resources that will be produced in the following months of the project. In addition, the research targets stakeholders such as policy makers, educational institutions, NGOs and community organisations. These stakeholders will have access to inspiring initiatives, enabling them to develop more comprehensive and effective strategies for youth empowerment and social inclusion through the SDGs.
The research is divided into four chapters, each highlighting good practices from the participating countries: Spain, Turkey, Serbia and Greece. This structure allows for an in-depth exploration of successful initiatives and provides a roadmap for other organisations to follow.
